New Projects and Updates:

Kareen Bayoumy

This summer, we welcomed Kareem Bayoumy, a 14-year-old from Lansdale, into the H2bH family. Kareem faces multiple challenges, including Down Syndrome, high-functioning autism, ADHD, and elopement (wandering without supervision). His mother, Maryanne, requested a fence to ensure Kareem’s safety while in their backyard. After reviewing several bids, the H2bH Board approved an $8,000 grant to complete this project, providing peace of mind for Kareem’s family.

"Freedom! Kareem finally has the freedom to go outside in our backyard and I don't have to worry." That was a comment from his mom Maryanne when she called to inform us that the fence project that we funded was complete. We often renovate a homes interior, but a fenced in yard can provide welcome freedom to the great outdoors. This fence now allows Kareem to enjoy outdoor time safely, and we’re thrilled to be part of making that happen.

Sophie Berta

In the spring, our board members Scott Hamrick, Melisa Snyder, Carol Savino, and JT Clark visited the Berta family home to assess the needs of Sophie, a 3-year-old who was accepted into the H2bH family. Sophie’s medical condition prevents her from walking, so her family requested help in creating a suitable living environment. The project includes renovating a first-floor bedroom and adding a handicap-accessible bathroom, ensuring Sophie has the care and comfort she needs. Contractors have visited the home, and we are awaiting further bids before moving forward. The entire project will provide significant improvements for Sophie’s day-to-day life.

Kyelynn Goering

This past spring, Kyelynn Goering, a 16-year-old with Dravet Syndrome, was accepted into the H2bH family. Dravet Syndrome is a severe form of epilepsy that requires constant supervision due to frequent, prolonged seizures. Kyelynn’s family sought assistance to convert their garage into a room for Kyelynn with a handicap-accessible shower. So far, we’ve received one bid from contractors and are awaiting two more before the project can be approved. We’re honored to assist Kyelynn’s family in making their home safer and more functional for her unique needs.

Nisorgo Chakrabaty

In Lansdale, the project involved installing a stairlift or elevator to improve accessibility for Nisorgo. With the assistance of Mary Berlin at Easter Seals of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the stairlift project was completed. The future project includes a new bathroom and will be completed sometime in the future for the family.

How to Apply for Assistance

If you or someone you know is caring for a chronically ill child and could benefit from home modifications, here’s the guidelines on how to apply to join the H2bH family:

1. The family must own their home.

2. The child must be school-aged (which is up to their 21st birthday) and live within a 25-mile radius of Gilbertsville, PA.

3. Families are required to obtain at least three bids from bonded and insured contractors.

Once the project is approved by our Board, we provide a grant to fund the modifications. The grant is given directly to the family, ensuring that the home improvements meet their child’s specific needs.

Apply on our Grant Request webpage.

If you are or know of a contractor who would like to bid on future projects, please reach out to us!

14th Annual Rubright Racing Benevolent Show

At our recent Classic Car & Bike Show, Board Members Bob Clark and Scott Hamrick met John Perry, (pictured left), an officer in the Pottstown Classics Car Club, and (pictured rightWalter Ostromecki, who is the Club secretary.  When John and Walt attended our show at New Ridge Fellowship with their cars, they noted that our organization did great work to “Enable families to provide a suitable home environment for children with chronic, long term, multiple disabilities to enhance their quality of life”.

Their club's upcoming car show, the 14th Annual Rubright Racing Benevolent Show, normally benefits a needy family with a child with cancer or other life altering problems.

This year, their show did not have any particular family in mind to help, so they and their Board wanted to know if the proceeds from this show could be given to H2bH.

Of course we said YES and thank you very much!

The car show will be on Sarurday, October 26, 2024 at the NORCO Fire Company in South Pottstown, 144 W Schuylkill Rd, Pottstown, PA 19465. (MAP)The show is from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

For car show spectators, admission is free, and there will be food vendors, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and great music. As in past years, they will be honoring our veterans that attend the show.

Our Board Members will be at the show all day to admire the vehicles and meet the people who attend! We hope you can come out to see us too!

We want to thank Rubright Racing Enterprises, Pottstown Classics Car Club, and J&S Automotive for their generosity to support our mission to help our H2bH families.

For show car participants, there will be Top 50 trophies, and 15 specialty trophies. The cost is $20.00 to enter a vehicle on the day of show. Pre registration is $15.00. Video Project in the Works

Thank you to Nick Savino, founder and creative director of NGS Productions in Phoenixville, for helping to create a video story about H2bH. Recently, Nick, a professional videographer and content creator, and Board member Carol Savino, visited two families, Kevin Nguyen's family and Candace Scott’s family.

The room renovation projects in these homes included bathroom remodeling and wheelchair accommodations that had been made with the assistance of H2bH.

The  purpose of the visits was to video and  interview the families whose lives were positively impacted by the transformation of their homes for the sake of their child.

It was a heartwarming experience for both Nick and Carol listening to their stories of how the renovations played a major role in significantly impacting the ease of daily life. The families explained how it's made safety, comfort and daily routines like bathing their children so easy.  These are the little things that we all take for granted.

In their interviews, both families spoke of how grateful they are to Happy 2 be Home, and in turn, it made both Nick and Carol realize even more how absolutely wonderful this organization is. Nick, thank you, and we can’t wait to see the finished video!

Special Thanks!

We are incredibly grateful to all our sponsors for their generous support this year.

A big thank you to our title sponsor of the year, Endeavor Business Brokers. Not only do they write us a big check, but EBB Partners Drew Carney and JT Clark are both on our Board!
