What a morning! On Saturday, August 8th, our community came together for our Annual 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. Despite heavy overnight rain and a foggy start to the morning, the sun broke through right in time for our 8:30 AM 5K kick-off and 8:35 AM walk.
Thanks to our amazing participants, volunteers, and supporters, we are thrilled to share that we raised close to $7,000! Every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting our mission and making a lasting difference.

💙 Honoring Our H2bH Families & Cherished Memories

A deeply meaningful highlight of this year’s 5K was welcoming so many of our wonderful Happy 2 be Home families to celebrate and run together. We were moved to see Pam—grandmother to our beloved late H2bH child, Candace, who passed away in November 2024—cheering on Candace’s sister, Aubrey, as she ran in the race as her younger brother cheered her on.

We were also honored to have Garrett C.—affectionately known as “Garrett the Grand”—join the course with his mother, Nancy, and brother, Palmer, in his specialized adaptive running chair.

The crowd was deeply touched by Maryanne Bayoumi, who took the stage to share her son Kareem’s story and speak about the life-changing support Happy 2 be Home provided their family. Maryanne reminded us all of the vital mission ahead, as we currently have five local families awaiting funding for essential home accessibility projects. Seeing our community, families, and memories come together truly captured the heart of why we run!
🎶 Good Tunes & Great Energy
A huge shoutout to Dale McCauley from Hometown Magazine, who served as our MC once again! Dale kept the energy high all morning, providing fantastic music, keeping everyone updated with announcements, and cheering on participants as they crossed the finish line.
