At its core, Happy 2 be Home exists because we build, we help, and we care. We come alongside families of chronically ill children, aiming to reduce their daily stress so their children can live safely at home with them rather than in a pediatric nursing home.
Board Members Melisa Snyder, Scott Hamrick and Carol Savino had the pleasure of meeting Kevin and his family during the initial home visit in 2021.
Today, we are thrilled to share the completion of a life-changing project for Kevin Nguyen and his family, right here in Lansdale!
The Challenge
For Kevin’s family, managing daily life was a major financial and emotional struggle. The family simply did not have the extra funds to build an essential wheelchair ramp or remodel their home to make it safe and accessible for 10 year-old Kevin.
As Kevin’s dad, Phuong Nguyen, shared:
“We don’t have money to build the ramp and also do the remodel. Happy 2 be Home helped my family to do the ramp and also remodel my house bathroom for Kevin. Happy 2 be Home is a perfect charity.”
The Transformation
Thanks to an incredible $30,000 grant provided directly by Happy 2 be Home and the unwavering generosity of our community, we were able to turn their struggles into a story of relief and joy.
This project focused on making the Nguyen household completely accessible, starting with a total bathroom renovation. The space was completely transformed into a much safer, more functional, and highly accessible environment customized specifically to Kevin’s daily needs.
To complement the interior updates, we also installed a brand-new exterior wheelchair ramp. This crucial addition ensures that entering and leaving their Lansdale home is a smooth, safe, and stress-free experience for Kevin and his family.
