At Happy 2 be Home, our mission has always been simple: to help families safely care for their children with special needs right where they belong—at home. Today, we are absolutely thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Katrina!

Katrina, who was born on March 11, 1994, lives in Pottstown and faces daily challenges from Spina Bifida and a stroke. She is the third child to join our organization, following our founding children, Charlotte and Nathan. But Katrina’s story marks a brand-new chapter for Happy 2 Be Home: she is the very first recipient of our hands-on home modification support!
Designing a Safer Space, Together
When we first met Katrina’s parents, Richard and Patricia Moran, we didn’t come in with a rigid plan. We started with a simple, vital question: What are your specific needs?

Carrying out a home modification is a deeply personal process. To ensure the space worked perfectly for Katrina’s daily routine, we brought in a specialized contractor to suggest the best layout. Richard and Patricia had direct input every step of the way, helping us design a customized downstairs living space featuring a beautiful, wheelchair-accessible shower stall, new cabinets, and a changing counter.
“Making Our Life So Much Easier”

The impact of this renovation was immediate. As Richard and Patricia shared with us:
“Our daughter, Katrina, became the first recipient of support from Happy 2 be Home when they reached out into the community. Happy 2 Be Home installed a beautiful wheelchair accessible shower in her downstairs living space that enabled us to safely and efficiently bathe and care for our daughter. Thank you Happy 2 be Home from the bottom of our hearts for making our life so much easier.” ~ Graciously, Richard and Patricia Moran

More Than Just a Project—We Are Family
For us, completing the construction isn’t the end of the story. As Patricia beautifully put it during our project wrap-up:
“It’s not like they do it and they take off… you’re like you’re part of a family there, which is nice.”
We are so proud to stand by the Moran family, and we can’t wait to see Katrina at our upcoming community events in the years to come! Please join us in welcoming Katrina, Richard, and Patricia to the Happy 2 be Home family.
