On August 10, 2024, our community came together for the annual Happy 2 be Home 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk at New Ridge Fellowship in New Hanover Township. What began as a rainy week turned into a beautiful summer morning, creating the perfect setting for a memorable day of fitness, friendship, and giving back.
With more than 115 participants, including runners, walkers, families, and even a few four-legged companions, the event was a tremendous success. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we raised an incredible $10,300 to support home modification projects for families caring for children with chronic disabilities and long-term medical needs.
A Great Day on the Course
Registration began at 7:30 AM, and participants took to the scenic, shaded roads of New Hanover Township beginning at 8:30 AM. The beautiful countryside route provided a welcoming experience for both competitive runners and those simply looking to enjoy a morning walk for a good cause.

Awards were presented to the top overall female and male runners, as well as the top finishers in each age group. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make the event such a success.

More Than Just a Race
While the race brought out plenty of friendly competition, the true purpose of the day was supporting local families in need. Every registration, donation, sponsorship, and volunteer hour helps Happy 2 be Home continue its mission of creating safer, more accessible homes for children with disabilities.
The event was filled with smiles, encouragement, and community spirit. Whether participants were racing for a personal best, walking with friends, or cheering from the sidelines, everyone played an important role in making a difference.
